This is a lecture introducing Global Englishes given at Gangwon International Language Institute in South Korea on April 7th 2017. The audience was comprised of native English speaking teachers, non-native English speaking teachers, and educational support staff.
The lecture is in two parts. The first part covers the historical spread of English, as well as some information on the current scope of English users. The second part discusses the relevance of the information highlighted in the first part in relation to: 1) native English speaking teachers; 2) non-native English speaking teachers, and; 3) English learners.
