Romanian Society for English and American Studies (RSEAS)

The Romanian Society for English and American Studies (RSEAS) (RO: Societatea Română de Studii de Anglistică și Americanistică, SRSAA) was founded by Professor Ioan Aurel Preda, its first president, in Bucharest, in 1990. It is an association of academics whose main aim is to promote Romanian scientific research and contribute to the development of studies in the fields of language, literature and culture, history and civilization in the British, American and other Anglophone spaces. Furthermore, its aim is also to encourage comparative studies of Romanian language, literature and culture.
SRSAA/RSEAS is represented at the national and regional levels by its local organisations. Currently SRSAA/RSEAS has 15 such local branches with 239 members. At national and local level it is run by an executive committee consisting of three persons: a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer. More details at http://rseas.ro.
